Day 5 – play day
'
today was our first play day…. first it was out to grandma and grandpa’s farm – wow, they have some sheds and some equipment and were the most lovely welcoming family..
this is what greeted us at the kitchen table on our arrival
warm cinnamon buns – a south dakota staple
iced buns
and much much more, didn't quite go down well with the Home made wine – cant just remember the name of the people that make it but something like the Amish – well I think they can keep it!
then it was outside for show n tell
this is but one piece of machinery - a grain grinder
we had a dinky ride across the road in this…
this is on one of the biiiiig trucks..
then we travelled for several miles to see a large working dairy, now I have grown up with dairy's either side of us in Australia but I have never seen anything like this – 2500 cattle each milked 3 times a day – enjoy your milk tonight girls…
poor noni crow is still recovering from the smell…
we then spent the rest of the day visiting every antique mall in the district – i could show you many many photos but they would bore you so thought I’d leave you with this image of our Laura Ingles – yes we are in Laura territory here and we feel just like we are in the Little House on the Prairie set.
hugs for today, hope our road trip isn’t boring you..
Helen
