I have many times been asked about my studio where I spend all of my days.... but I am such a messy person at work that I was just too embarrassed to show you..... however, now I have the most wonderful (and neat) new girl helping me out named Lori.... and she has transformed me - well sort of. At least I pick up the floor rubbish, empty the bins and clean the sink before she arrives each week.... And she is getting me organised which is just as well as there are some big changes happening here in Lenah Valley you will all hear about very soon.In the meantime I shall show you some pics to share....now I dont have pretty things and perfect work areas to show you as this is a true working studio, printhouse and mailing room...oh and my organising is a work in progress..

hugs, Helen

This is where many of my samples are 'stored' whilst not out travelling the world, experiencing life in many and varied places.

I seem to have a lot at home at present and some are packed in my home made compactus system which is HUGE and very full.. Many designers also have a Quilt store and their samples are on show there but mine are just shared between many..... I do not know how they find time to have a store as well.

    HNK_Studio_Packing_bench

This is the packing bench - for both packing patterns and packing orders to ship. Now I have not seen the top of this bench for several years - I have been using the ironing board and cutting table for this job but Lori now has this sorted to suit her and to return it to its former glory.

Pigeon holes full of patterns packed and ready to ship to you lovely ladies.

Yet more pigeon holes with patterns in various stages of packing. I have run out of pigeon holes so we are currently planning alternatives to boxes over the floor for new patterns and stock. And my 30 large holes of magazines will probably have to go....

Now this may not look like much but it is neat isnt it. This is Lori's next challenge she is working on

Hugs_n_Kisses_design_and_Workbench

to fix this! my cutting table, design table, workspace etc...sorry, thats the embarassing bit... but I simply cannot be creative and neat too...

Well you have now seen my inner workspace....This was once a dirty unlined garage with dirt floor and many many cobwebs. We have lined it, extended it by 16 square metres, attached it to the house by way of an internal staircase and fitted it out as a workspace... The girls think they are going to get a terrific rumpus room one day...
