The designers and craft bloggers of Australia have been amazing and raised an unbelievable amount for the Flood relief effort. I am feeling very bad that I returned to Australia too late to join in with this mammoth effort so I cannot put myself into the ‘together’ up above there. But well done to Toni, her sister and all those involved – especially those of you who bid and purchased.

So, to make up for this (and because I’d like to still do something to contribute) I been thinking and have come up with the following:

you may have noticed a little possum in the photo from my last post? I have finished the 38 Aussie designs for our upcoming Great Aussie Shop Hop just in time for our Nation’s celebrations yesterday..

P1070050

in the Great Aussie spirit I would like to give away a full transfer pack of all designs to a quilting group, stitching group, friendship group or even an individual who would be happy to make stitched blocks into a finished quilt to raffle for the Flood appeal…

AND  I will post one transferred design to the first 38 commenter's along with some thread and fabric  - to stitch and post to the chosen quilt group to make up into the quilt. Many hands make light work!

Cottage Garden Threads are sending six skeins of the Hugs ‘n Kisses red thread, and Widebacks Australia will donate some backing fabric for the quilt. I will supply the stitchery backing fabric from here.

We will then raffle the finished quilt and give the resulting funds to the appeal.

So, if you have a few moments to stitch one little block and pop it in the mail (and get to use the new thread) please leave a comment with your snail mail address. If you have a group of friends, or a quilting group who would like to assemble and finish the quilt, please email or leave a comment. (if we get more than one I will have to draw). The group will get a full set of the transfers to do as they wish with also.

to all of our stitching and blogging friends who are affected by the floods, please know we are thinking of you and doing our best to help in any way we can.

over to you,

hugs, Helen
